The perfect layout, park-like backyard, and proximity to schools is unmatched in this mid-century Redwood Heights stunner.  Built in 1951, this residence showcases the timeless appeal of large, open rooms and clean, flowing spaces, inviting you to experience the quintessential California lifestyle, both indoors and out.

The heart of the home features an inviting family room with an exposed beam ceiling, seamlessly connected to a sprawling park-like backyard through expansive glass doors. This effortless indoor-outdoor transition is perfect for hosting gatherings or enjoying serene relaxation spaces.

Three well-appointed bedrooms, including a primary suite, are thoughtfully positioned in a private hallway wing, ensuring a peaceful retreat. An additional bedroom suite on the lower level offers versatility, ideal for guests or a home office.

Numerous recent upgrades including  solar, seismic retrofitting, smart electrical panel and compliant sewer lateral make this home truly turnkey. Interior access from the 2-car garage and a separate laundry room on the main bedroom level add convenience to this special offering.

This unique property on a large lot is a rare find, blending comfort, style, outdoor living and location seamlessly. Come see for yourself!

For a real taste of what it's like to live in this special home, here are some words from the current owners-

"This has been our dream home in every way, and we are sad to leave it, but seeking a slower pace of life and more open space has us moving out of the area. This house has served us well for family and friend gatherings, large birthday parties in the backyard, bike rides and walks around the block and in the neighborhood, and the easiest commute to Redwood Heights Elementary and Chatham school- both exceptional schools in which we felt lucky to have our kids enrolled.

We enjoyed countless dinners, chatting away with friends and loved ones with the open flow of the living/dining/and kitchen areas. The downstairs room acted as a haven for the adults when ill, or to house families visiting us with the en suite bathroom and possibility of a separate entrance through the garage (we even successfully isolated one family member with COVID, and no one else in the family got it!) .

The size and versatility of the backyard are spectacular. From growing fruits and veggies in the raised beds to the play structure lending itself to independent children's play and lower levels offering space for outdoor meals and relaxation in the sun. We have loved the area. From the house, you can walk to Leona Heights Park and the York Trail, which is a beautiful trail that opens up into longer trails in the hills. The restaurants in the Laurel district, just down the hill from the house are excellent- from family-friendly Ghost Town Brewing or Degrees Plato Taphouse to date night spots like Jo’sModern Thai.

Our hope is that this house brings as much joy, loving gatherings and time in the yard as it has for us. We hope whoever buys our house will also enjoy engaging with the community of families all around Redwood Heights.

Neighborhood

Redwood Heights sits comfortably in the Oakland Hills, named after an old logging road that curves through the area. This friendly neighborhood shows off Oakland's history while offering plenty of modern amenities.

The streets are lined with beautiful older homes built in different styles. You'll find Craftsman houses sitting next to Tudor-style homes and French-inspired architecture, many dating back to the 1920s. Most have been kept up nicely over the years, with updates that make them comfortable for today's residents.

Nature is a big part of life in Redwood Heights. Peralta Creek runs through 9 acres of protected land where local wildlife makes its home.  A neighborhood nonprofit, Native Environment Watershed Transformation, or NEWT, has worked hard to clean up and restore the creek, and they often take school kids on educational walks along its banks. Right next door, Redwood Regional Park offers tons of outdoor fun with nearly 40 miles of trails perfect for hiking and biking. The park's 1,800 acres include beautiful redwood trees, evergreen forests, and open spaces that make you forget you're still in the city.
